What we did in 2021

In 2021, we held the first Equity and Racial Justice in STEM Teacher Development Summit. We held the summit virtually.

"I will always know that teachers touch eternity through their students, and I will live through them."

Dr. Freeman Hrabowski quoting his mother during his keynote address

The summit provided opportunities for a diverse group of pre- and in-service teachers, higher education faculty and staff, and affiliated STEM education stakeholders to engage with issues related to equity and racial justice in STEM teacher development. The summit concluded with a session for participants to discuss how to move from "discussion to action" by identifying and articulating actionable steps related to ERJ that they can take and implement in their local contexts.

The Equity and Racial Justice in STEM Teacher Development Virtual Summit is part of a multi-layered equity and racial justice initiative led by the UTeach STEM Educators Association.
