2017 UTeach Conference

2017 UTeach Conference: Celebrating 20 Years of Changing the World

The 11th annual UTeach Conference was held May 23–25, 2017, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. We had a great time sharing ideas and innovations, as well as celebrating UTeach's 20th anniversary, with our friends and colleagues from around the country. Here are some of the highlights.

An opening plenary featuring accomplished UTeach alumni William Chan, Amber Rodriguez, and Briana Rapini.

Dozens of sessions covering the UTeach model, courses, research on UTeach and STEM education, and sessions geared toward students and pre-service teachers.

And, of course, awesome student poster presentations.

We threw a party to celebrate the 20th anniversary of UTeach, and the Longhorn Band showed up to provide some rousing celebratory music!

At our annual awards dinner, technology and innovation policy expert Tom Kalil gave a thought-provoking keynote talk imagining students as change-makers.

We wrapped things up on Thursday morning with a lively and compelling closing plenary panel, "Beyond the Classroom," featuring science communicators Tyler DeWitt, Joe Hanson, and the Tumble podcast. The panel was moderated by Briana Rapini of the Amoeba Sisters.

Thanks for joining us as we celebrated our past and looked forward to our future. We look forward to next year's conference!
